Gothenburg melodic death metal pioneers, DARK TRANQUILLITY, have now released a medley of the two tracks “The Absolute” and “Time Out of Place”, taken from the bonus disc of the Deluxe CD Editions of “Atoma”!
Gothenburg melodic death metal pioneers, DARK TRANQUILLITY, have now released a video for the song “Forward Momentum”. You can watch it here:
The video was filmed in the far North of Sweden near Kiruna by Vesa Ranta (ex-Sentenced, The Man-Eating Tree drummer) and directed by Harri Haataja. Vesa Ranta and DARK TRANQUILLITY already share a long history. Niklas Sundin created the cover artwork for the Sentenced album “Crimson” back in the year 2000 and both bands toured together shortly after. In 2008 DARK TRANQUILLITY honored their friends with a cover version of “Broken” on the 20th Anniversary compilation of their label Century Media.
On November 4th, 2016, DARK TRANQUILLITY will release their 11th album "Atoma" worldwide through Century Media Records.
On November 4th, 2016, DARK TRANQUILLITY will release their 11th album “Atoma” worldwide through Century Media Records and start their North American headline tour. The band is proud to present the first single and video for the song “The Pitiless”. You can watch it below.
The band comments: “Selecting the first single from an album as diverse as Atoma is always a hard task, but we felt that The Pitiless gives a good representation of the general vibe of the material. It's fast, melodic and with a sense of urgency that permeates the whole album. Enjoy!“
The video was filmed during their stay at the German Turock Open Air Festival 2016 in Essen by the director Dirk Behlau. The next video will be filmed by Vesa Ranta (ex-Sentenced drummer) in Northern Sweden and you can expect something very epic!

Here is the complete tracklisting of “Atoma”:

A limited edition double CD will be available as a digipak in North America and as a Mediabook in Europe. The bonus disc features the songs "The Absolute" and "Time Out of Place" that showcase a very different side of the band. Recorded and mixed by Anders Lagerfors at Nacksving studios, these tracks are among the darkest and most brooding ever from the band—but their experimental nature make them far removed from the usual metal territory.
The band explains, "A lot of our songs start out as pieces of music written on piano/ keyboards before getting transformed into guitar driven metal. With this recording, we wanted to explore what would happen if we instead let the material take another direction, and we're extremely thrilled by the result."
These songs will exclusively be available on the physical deluxe edition of "Atoma" and won't appear on the digital edition of the album. A vinyl 7” is planned for early 2017.
Sweden's DARK TRANQUILLITY are currently recording their 11th full-length album "Atoma", set to be released on November 4, 2016 through Century Media Records.
The band says: “That's right! We're more than halfway done with the recording of the upcoming album, and it's shaping up to be a diverse and challenging affair that will feature a lot of different aspects of the D.T. sound. It's hard to be more specific while still immersed in the creative process, but we're incredibly excited about the material and can't wait to share the results with all of you soon.”
"Atoma" is being recorded at Rogue Music in Gothenburg, the studio owned by D.T. keyboardist Martin Brändström. Mixing duties will be handled by David Castillo, known for his work with bands such as Katatonia, Opeth and Candlemass. The cover artwork was once again created by the band's guitarist Niklas Sundin.
The touring cycle for "Atoma" will start with a headline North American run in November, featuring Swallow The Sun, Enforcer and Starkill as support acts. A European tour is planned for early 2017.
