CRADLE OF FILTH - writing new material!

CRADLE OF FILTH the UKs most visionary and hellish outfit are very pleased to announce that they are currently writing new material. The band have been locked away for the past week in a studio in Brno, Czech Republic, working on the follow up to their 2015 opus Hammer Of The Witches.

The evening before embarking on their creative quest, rather vocal front man Dani Filth said the following: "As a band we are very much looking forward to our writing session in Brno. It's going to be very inspirational to just bury ourselves away in a rehearsal room in the Czech Republic and knead our ammunition of razor sharp flesh-ripping sonic torments into sinister form. Hopefully when we emerge from our musical chrysalis one week later, something beautiful will be born. The new CRADLE OF FILTH album will be mostly written. Then will come the long Autumnal evenings bringing the monster further to life by dressing it in lyricism. I can hardly wait!

As a band, CRADLE OF FILTH have already written about fifty percent of the material towards the new album, which now requires collating and readdressing. We started writing shortly after returning from our highly successful tour of the U.S. and Canada back in March. We were adrenalised by the whole reaction we received out there, having not been back to that part of the world for a fair few years. The camaraderie of playing to that many people across seven weeks really inspired us to start writing material again so soon after the release of our previous endeavour, Hammer Of The Witches.

There are certainly a few songs completed already, though these will undoubtedly be scrutinised thoroughly when we hit the rehearsal studio. It'll just be awesome to play through it all creatively in the rehearsal room.

We can reveal that there is one song carried over from the previous album, a veritable lament entitled 'Achingly Beautiful'. We've worked some more on it, fleshing it out considerably. It is very old school CRADLE OF FILTH, featuring a haunting middle section full of soaring female vocals and choir very akin to 'A Gothic Romance' from the album Dusk... and Her Embrace. It may not even make this album's grade in the end, as we're being extremely thorough with quality control, but it's definitely something that is being delivered to the proverbial butcher's block from the off.

CRADLE OF FILTH chose Brno as a location for several reasons aside from the draw of its elegance and rich architecture; drummer Marthus and second guitarist Ashok live there, plus Brno is also home to Europe's second largest Ossuary, which is essentially a medieval charnel house filled with fifty thousand skeletons, second only in size to the catacombs in Paris.

CRADLE OF FILTH will re-release album

CRADLE OF FILTH have teamed up with the revived label Cacophonous and will release on July 8, the album "Dusk... And Her Embrace: The Original Sin". As the name implies, this release is a variation on the second full-length album of the British "Dusk And Her Embrace", originally released in 1996. However, the musicians say that we'll get some forgotten artifact.

A simple comparison of the track lists of the albums allows us to understand that we have the reissue with swapped songs:

Macabre, This Banquet
Nocturnal Supremacy
Heaven Torn Asunder
Dusk And Her Embrace
A Gothic Romance
The Graveyard By Moonlight
Funeral In Carpathia
Beauty Slept In Sodom
The Haunted Shores Of Avalon
Carmillas Masque
A Gothic Romance (Bonus Demo Track)
Nocturnal Supremacy (Bonus Demo Track)

Here is update from CRADLE OF FILTH's official site:

"Greetings fans, friends, fiends and boys and ghouls of all persuasions.

Things have been going exceptionally well in the Cradle Of Filth camp of late, with the American airing of 'Viva La Bam' being shown for public consumption at the beginning of the month; (we're pursuing the European showing date even as this is being written... )

And, more importantly we have over sixty per cent of the new album under our belts; including the following laments... 'I Am The Thorn', 'Lovesick For Mina', 'The Byronic Man', 'Cemetery And Sundown', 'Libertina Grimm', 'The Flora Of Nightfall, The Fauna Of War' and 'Dirge Inferno' to name but a few. There will also be a band instrumental on this new musical opus, which, although remaining untitled as yet, will be a first for the band in its eleven year career. The initial start date for recording the album is scheduled for October 10th.

On the DVD front, a cover representation will be posted shortly with the title of 'Peace Through Superior Firepower' and pending the documentary of backstage shenanigans, being completed over the next few weeks, by Dani and guitarist Paul Allender, a release date of late October/early November is to be expected.

Book-wise; 'The Gospel Of Filth -The Midian Bible' is coming on very nicely with the chapter about 'Serial Murderers' currently being expounded upon. Next month's arrival of the 'Member's Only' chamber on the website entitled, The Order Of The Dragon, will see excerpts from this unholy tome being revealed unto the unwary with the countdown to the release of the books special edition (which features an extra chapter by Dani Filth and is signed by both authors alike in a gilded leather-bound cover... ); sometime early next year.

Incidentally, this 'Members Only' chamber will not only include up-to-the-minute information, but will also feature live band chats, video messaging, special promotional items, tickets for exclusive one-off shows, downloads, competitions to win band property and interaction with band decisions in the form of consensus and polls (i.e in deciding titles, themes, new products and songs etc, etc...) to name but a few. More on this as it arrives.

Last but not least, some other strange occurrences have been happening to the band line-up since last I put severed wrist to paper; in the form of a further departure, a turnaround and a come-back! It has been known to the select few that this band is a sum of it's parts and sometimes more than just a band, sometimes more a lifestyle, so it is not often surprising that, (as magazines and other creative workplaces do all the time), people unfortunately come and go; yet the entity that is the band remains the same. The plan has always been to deliver on the musical front for at least another five to ten years, regardless of what and whom are in the line-up.

Anyway, the departure is that of James McIlroy A.K.A 'Germs Warfare' who has left to pursue a Masters degree and other things musical; in the wake of his last appearance with the band on 'Viva La Bam'. As always in these situations, our best wishes and hopes for the future go out to him on his new journey through this abysmal farce called life.

His replacement is none other than Charles Hedger (who people would have seen fulfilling bass duties on our last European tour...; his primary function being that of playing and tutoring in the guitar, along with maintaining another high level of blondness). Bass duties resume being manhandled by Dave Pybus A.K.A 'Herr Pubis', who returns after a short sojourn from the live circuit and all the vile machinations of the music industry. These changes having been secretly implemented before the main bulk of the writing process started.

As yet a suitable keyboard replacement has yet to be found, (please keep those demo ceedees winging their way in... ), but this offers the band little concern as the parts are being written and being further expanded upon by Daniel Presley, who has arranged and orchestrated for the band over the last two albums. So absolutely no worries there at all.

The Future is Bright. The future is the darkest shade of ebony black, as they are prone to say.

Dani Filth - 12th August, 2005"

Cradle Of Filth are due to go into the studio to record their first album for a major label at the beginning of May with a brief respite in recording to allow the band to perform at next year's Dynamo festival in Holland. The album itself looks like being another conceptual work (much in the vein that "Cruelty And The Beast" was) with a tentative working title of "Damnation And A Day", with two songs already written and two more to be completed before the Xmas sojourn.

British black metal sensation CRADLE OF FILTH are currently composing material for the groups first album for Sony Records, and according to a report that was published in Kerrang!, they have no intention of watering down their sound for a mainstream audience. "I don't care what the label expects, they can expect to get a f**king CRADLE OF FILTH album, and that's it," vocalist Dani Filth told the magazine. "They wouldn't have signed us if they didn't like what we were doing and there's no point cumming in the ingredients. I think we'll try to take the best bits from all our previous stuff, basically. The songs are more like proper songs now though, they're going to be a bit simpler. We might de-tune on this album, too, just to get a heavier vibe to it." CRADLE OF FILTH's next album is expected to emerge in the first half of 2002 via the Sony label.
