This is sort of a step back, although I would lie if I said “Vansinnesvisor” turned out as a disappointment. No, it didn't. At least, referring to my personal opinion. If I had to compare this work with any other one by THYRFING, I'd most probably pick up the CD these Swedes made their debut with. However, it has it's differences. First of all, “Vansinnesvisor” was executed – stupendously executed! – at Dug-Out Productions by Daniel Bergstrand himself, so you won't find that good 'ol Sunlight sound in here. Secondly and lastly, keyboards now play the minor part, and “Vansinnesvisor” isn't as all-synth-soaked effort as “Thyrfing” was. Guitars – tuned lower than usual – have been put forward in the mix, and that's good. That's definitely something new for THYRFING which have been previously utilizing keyboards at seemingly maximum extent… Of course they never were a sympho-black metal act or whatever… but… Well, you got the point. And just like I already said, that's good. You won't discover any cover versions as well, by the way. “Clean” vocals are also few in number; mostly choirs. Generally speaking, it's not a masterpiece… but a CD worth THYRFING's former endeavors. Check it out.
