March 6, 2003, NY, NY -- Guitar One Magazine awarded The Great Kat today the "Top 10 Fastest Shredders of All Time," April 2003 by Chris O'Byrne. Known for her lightning-fast Shred/Classical riffs, The Great Kat has been heralded worldwide as the only guitar/violin virtuoso updating Classical music and is the only female guitarist included on the Guitar One "Fastest Shredders" list. See (http://www.greatkat.com/59/articles/guitarone.html) for full Guitar One article.

Born Katherine Thomas, The Great Kat is a violin graduate from the prestigious Juilliard School and has performed as a Classical violin soloist at Carnegie Recital Hall as winner of the Artists International Competition. The Great Kat has also toured as a violin soloist in Mexico, the U.S. and UK.

After graduating from The Juilliard School, The Great Kat decided "to bring classical music to the masses" and quickly switched to guitar. Kat then combined Classical music with Speed Metal, developing the exciting new "Shred/Classical" Music Genre: authentic classical masterpieces (Beethoven, Wagner, Bach, and others) mixed with extreme speed and shredding guitar riffs.

Known as the "High Priestess of Guitar Shred," The Great Kat's discography includes 6 Shred/Classical CDs and an interactive multimedia CD-ROM. Kat's new "WAGNER'S WAR" CD has been hailed by critics as brilliant and revolutionary. "Inspired by the events of Sept. 11, Kat renders some of music's most famous, aggressive, battle-inspired pieces in shredding-speed metal arrangements that hiss and spit," praised Dan Aquilante in his "Wagner's War" 3 out of 4 star review for the New York Post. Michael Molenda from Guitar Player Magazine said, "The Great Kat can totally shred. In fact, she's so scary fast on guitar and violin, that once you retrieve your ego from the gutter, you almost have to laugh."
